What we can learn from Autumn
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
Autumn or Fall of the year is a welcome change to the hot temperature of the summer. This time of year reminds me of some things I want to share and how changes compare to our Christian life. This time of year reminds us of the amzaing beauty of this world we live in. I makes me realize that we suddenly put our attention on things we have around all the other time of year. Apples, cloves, cinnamon, sweet potatoes….all these things can be purchased from the grocery store all year. But this time of year we tend to gravitate to them more often. In comparison to our christian life, we sometimes do the same thing. God gives us blessings everyday. Some we know they are there, but we tend to overlook them all too often. Sometimes we need him to remind us to be thankful for those things we sometimes take for granted.
This time of year also brings about change in the vibrant greens we see in the leaves of the trees all spring and summer. They slowely begin to die, and go through a beautiful transformation. We love to drive around and see all the pretty colors during such a short amount of time before they have all fallen to the ground. This reminds me that in our christian life sometimes death comes. But, if we will look closely, God can show us His beauty even in these hard times. Look for God in all the bad times in life. But don’t let the time slip away from you.
And finally, this time of year is a reminder that winter is just around the corner. When all the reminders of Fall/Autumn vanish away. All becomes dead and still, and the days are shortened. Reminding us to remember that time is short. What we are going to have to get busy with what God has for us to do, if we intend to obey His will.
Let this encourage you to number your days, remember that life, just like the seasons do not last forever. Time is short, so be sure and spend it in the center of God’s will for your life.
